After listening to constructive criticism from fans about her word choice in one of her songs, Lizzo is taking action and changing the lyrics.

The singer announced Monday via Instagram that she tweaked sone words in her newly-released song "Grrrls" due to the fact that the previous version offended some fans with disabilities.

"It's been brought to my attention that there is a harmful word in my new song 'GRRRLS.' Let me make one thing clear: I never want to promote derogatory language," the three-time Grammy Award winner wrote.

Disability activists accused the singer on Twitter of using "an ableist slur" on the track, which was released Friday.

The word "spaz," short for the term "spastic," is considered offensive in the U.K., while in the U.S. it can be defined as the action of losing physical or emotional control.

In her opening verse of "Grrrls," Lizzo sings: "Hold my bag, bitch, hold my bag / Do you see this shit? Ima spaz."

Realizing some of her listeners found the lyrics insensitive, Lizzo wrote in her Instagram post, "As a fat black woman in America, I've had many hurtful words used against me so I overstand the power words can have (whether intentionally or in my case, unintentionally)."

"I'm proud to say there's a new version of GRRRLS with a lyric change. This is the result of me listening and taking action. As an influential artist I'm dedicated to being part of the change I've been waiting to see in the world," she added.
