Ahem, if you’re watching the 2023 Grammys, then Lizzo just changed your life with *that* performance. In a stunning black corset dress and a wet and wavy bob, Lizzo took us to church with an all-Black woman choir ensemble, who were gorge in gold jacquard gowns. They and Lizzo all sang “Special” after Lizzo opened with an a cappella version of “About Damn Time.” I mean, THE VOCALS. My gawd. Missed it? Allow me:

Quite literally so many celebs in the audience were having a time with Lizzo’s performance, including Taylor Swift, who was standing and dancing along:

Lizzo is nominated for five Grammys this year, including Record of the Year for “About Damn Time,” Album of the Year for Special, and Song of the Year for “About Damn Time.” She was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, but Harry Styles took home the gold for that award instead. Lizzo has won a total of three Grammys already in her career, but here’s to hoping she gets her flowers tonight in one way or another!
The last time Lizzo graced the Grammys stage to perform was pre-pandemic, in 2020, and she opened up her show with a dedication to Kobe Bryant and then sang “Cuz I Love You” and the banger that is “Truth Hurts”—both from her album Cuz I Love You (Deluxe), which won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. The performance was glorious and emotional and all the things. Relive it here if you need to feel even more things:
