If anyone came to bring spring to the Grammys red carpet, it was Lizzo. The star, who's nominated in several categories tonight, stepped out in a red flower-adorned hooded cape and orange top and skirt. Significantly, she posed on the red carpet with her boyfriend Myke Wright, their first time doing the Grammys together. It comes hours after she posted their “hard” launch in Instagram.

Lizzo has five Grammy nominations: Record of the Year (“About Damn Time”), Album of the Year (Special), Song of the Year (“About Damn Time”), Best Pop Solo Performance (“About Damn Time”), and Best Pop Vocal Album (Special).

Lizzo spoke in her Vanity Fair interview in October 2022 about how she feels about music critiques' criticism of her art. “Don’t get me started on people critiquing art,” she prefaced. “I just ignore them. My favorite thing is ‘You’re wrong.’ Your opinion wasn’t fact in the first place. My lyrics are so manic sometimes. ‘Cuz I Love You’ is ‘I’m going through it.’ ‘To Be Loved’ is like a panic attack. I’m doing real shit lyrically.”

She added that she goes to therapy and will meditate as a means to cope with her anxiety and fear. “When something good happens to me, I’m always looking over my shoulder for something bad,” she said. “The years 2008–2012 had a lot of dark spots and trauma.” One devastating loss in particularly was the unexpected death of her dad in 2009. Other hard moments followed, “those gut-punching moments that set you up for a fear-based life,” she said. “Nobody would believe that I was happy and confident all of the time. Saying words like ‘uplifting’ makes it sound saccharine and corny, but there’s a rawness to my lyrics that makes it more than uplifting.”
