Lizzo exudes ‘unapologetic confidence’ in African print bikini

Lizzo got the juice this summer.

On Monday, the 33-year-old shared several photos of herself wearing a Kente cloth patterned bikini by Black-owned U.K. based swimwear brand Ashanti Swimwear. She also included a video where she posed for fans in bright green sunglasses.

"BIG GRRRL SUMMER HAS BEGUN YOU BEEN WARNED," she captioned the post.

Celebrity friends like Kerry Washington used fire emojis to illustrate the heat the "Truth Hurts" songstress was bringing with her photos. Fans were also taking to the comments to praise the singer's summer glow.

"It is the unapologetic confidence for me!!!!!!" a fan wrote.

"YOU LOOK INCREDIBLE," someone said.

"Hot big girl summer purr!" another person added.

"I know that’s right," a commenter continued.

In another video wearing the same bikini, Lizzo declared, "this is a public service announcement. Big girl summer has officially begun and big girls, we have abs...I know you see it, 'fabs' honey. Stay sick, stay mad h**. Where my big girls at?"

Though she beams confidence in a lot of her social media posts, she has also been open about her body confidence journey. In a 2019 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she admitted that it had not been easy to get self-confidence.

“It’s not something you really change,” she said. “It’s something that you address and work on. I had to address every layer of insecurity. Because I can’t just be like, ‘Alright, my arm’s not jiggly and lumpy anymore’ — that’s delusional. You have to be like, ‘That’s not ugly to me anymore, and it’s not wrong to me, it’s beautiful to me.’ And I think that is why I’m able to call myself fat, and people are like, ‘No!’ Even my friends. And I’m like, ‘B***h, you know I’m fat.’ I’m like, ‘Don’t say no. I am fat, I am beautiful.’ I think it’s because I learned to actually look all my insecurities in the face, call them by their name and fall in love with them.”
