While the Lizzie McGuire reboot continues to be stuck in limbo, the cast decided do something *really freaking special* for their fans in the middle of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
Hilary Duff and her former cast members reunited for a virtual table reading of the ICONIC episode “Between a Rock and a Bra Place,” which features Lizzie buying a bra with her mom. And yes, when we say that she reunited with all of her cast members, we mean ALL! OF! THEM!
Along with Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire), Adam Lamberg (Gordo), Robert Carradine (Sam McGuire), and Hallie Todd (Jo McGuire), who are already signed up for the upcoming reboot, more familiar faces joined in on the fun. Lalaine (Miranda Sanchez), Ashlie Brillault (Kate Sanders), and Davida Williams (Claire Miller) appeared in the special table read as well!
According to Hilary, it was Jake’s idea to do a virtual table read for the episode for its 19th anniversary. Several of the show’s original writers were also there to talk about the episode and what happened behind the scenes, even revealing they were only allowed to say the word “bra” twice in the episode and they weren’t allowed to actually show one.
“Some fun for you this Monday! Hope you guys have fun watching this! We could not stop laughing reading lines from tween us…this is the first time we were all ‘together-ish’ in almost 18 years! This week marks the 19th anniversary of this episode, ‘Between a Rock and a Bra Place’! Do excuse our delayed singing…we will be taking singing lessons as a group to work on our craft!!” Hilary wrote on her Instagram.
The expected Lizzie McGuire reboot is currently on hold due to creative differences that came up after the first two episodes were filmed. Hilary recently asked for Disney to move the reboot from Disney+ to Hulu in order to allow the show to explore more adult topics now that Lizzie is in her 30s.
Hopefully, this reunion will be made official onscreen in the new reboot pretty soon!
