Used to be you had to look like a super-sweaty alien to realize the wind-slipping advantages of an aerodynamic helmet. But with its low-profile look, the Liv Attacca suited me for everything from nighttime crits, to a 60-mile road race in 90-degree heat, to a 40k time trial I entered in pursuit of points in my state championship series.

With its black color and small vents, the Attacca doesn't look like it would be good for a hot day, but the AeroVent ports that run lengthwise inside the helmet are designed to stream the air from front to back—and the helmet did keep my head just as cool as some traditional road helmets. It was so light and breathable, I often found myself forgetting I had a helmet on at all. And judging from all the compliments I got for the sleek look, it won me plenty of #stylepoints, too.
