Liverpool's 2023/24 Home Jersey References a 70's Club Classic

Liverpool and Nike have just released The Reds’ new home kit for the 2023/24 season, with the clean new strip inspired by legendary former manager, Bill Shankly, whose last season in charge of the club was 50 years ago.

Featuring white collars and cuffs of the 1973/74 kit, that saw Shankly’s Liverpool win the FA Cup, the modern take on a classic LFC kit is already being received as one of the best home jerseys Nike have produced for the club since they began working with the club back in 2020.

The classic red and white shirt features the number ‘97’ between eternal flames on the back of the neck in memory of those that lost their lives in the Hillsborough Disaster.

For the kit launch, Liverpool players like Mohammed Salah, Luís Diaz and Darwin Núñez were styled in sunglasses, trousers and jewellery, with the accompanying campaign visuals seeing players from the men’s and women’s teams transported to the ‘70s through a vintage photo booth.

In line with both the club’s ‘The Red Way’ sustainability programme and Nike’s ‘Move to Zero’ campaign, the kit is entirely made out of recycled polyester – while the names and numbers are printed with sustainable, water-based inks.

The club will debut the new kit at Anfield for the season’s final match against Aston Villa.

The shirt is available to pre-order now on Liverpool’s online store.
