While New York City is known for many things, having spacious apartments with abundant storage space definitely isn’t one of them.

I learned this the hard way upon moving from Chicago to New York City last fall, where my bathroom storage situation went from “not ideal” to “downright terrible.” Although I loved nearly everything about my apartment after moving in, it took all of 24 hours to realize that my extensive collection of hair products, styling tools, and skincare essentials wouldn’t exactly fit in the tiny cabinet behind my bathroom mirror.

So, I headed to Amazon where I found a $17 solution to my bathroom storage woes: the Omaira Shower Shelves.

Before setting up the shelves, bulky shampoo bottles and tubs of body wash littered my shower floor, making an already small space feel even tighter. With the help of these shelves, however, I’ve been able to hoist my products to eye level, both freeing up space and making my shower necessities easier to access.

Not only does the two-pack of shelves measure 12 inches wide and 5.1 inches deep, but it also has a 3-inch-tall guardrail to keep products secure. They house jumbo-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner, two full-sized containers of body wash, and several miscellaneous hair masks and razors with room to spare.

The best part about the shelves has been how effortless they were to set up. Building things isn’t really my strong suit, but I was able to assemble them in less than five minutes. I just cleaned and dried the surface that I wanted them to hang on, applied the adhesive strip horizontally, and waited 24 hours to allow the backing to fully set before hanging the stainless steel baskets.

Although I won’t be able to confirm how simple the shelves are to remove until I move out of my apartment, several five-star reviewers note that they come off easily with the help of a blow dryer. Plus, they don’t damage walls or leave any sticky residue behind, making them a great option for renters.
