Little moments of prayer can bring love to one’s day

Prayer can become a way of life for us if we take the time, even a bit of time, to practice it.

While sorting through more of my clutter, I came across a Stewardship handout titled “10 Ways to Pray in 10 Minutes a Day.”

Here are some of the suggestions, in abbreviated form:

When you see/hear a siren, fire truck or ambulance, say a prayer for the person(s) who may be hurt or ill.

When you’re sitting at a red light, say a prayer for the person in front or in back of your vehicle.

Standing in line at a grocery store? Say a prayer for those who have no money to buy food.

Park at the end of the parking lot, and thank God for your ability to walk as you approach your destination.

Keep a notebook by your bed. Before going to sleep, write down one thing that occurred that day for which you are grateful.

Smile and greet people as you pass them on the street, at work, or in school.

Tell your children, your spouse and your friends that you love them.

When you say to yourself, “Why me, God?” take the time to listen for an answer.

Say a short prayer of thanks before and after every meal.

Pick a family member or friend each day and say a short prayer for them as you brush your teeth.
