This Little Girl Wasn't Having It—She Requested A DNA Test To Prove Santa's Legit
At some point in our youth, we likely all had our suspicions about Santa Claus. It seemed too good to be true that a bearded man would shimmy down our chimneys each year baring gifts. Well, one young girl has taken her sneaking suspicion of Santa to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation levels with her request for a local police department.
NPR reports that the young girl sent a letter to the Cumberland Police Department in Rhode Island asking that they test a sample she enclosed to see if Santa Claus is real. The young sleuth included a piece of cookie and carrots as her DNA samples.
"Dear Cumberland Police dapartment, I took a sample of a cookie and carrots that I left for Santa and the raindeer on Christmas Eve and was wondering if you could take a sample of DNA and see if Santa is real," she asked in her letter.
A Facebook post from the Cumberland Police Department, which was accompanied by a press release, included photos of the cookie and carrots neatly packaged in Ziploc bags.
“This young lady obviously has a keen sense for truth and the investigative process and did a tremendous job packaging her evidence for submission. We will do our very best to provide answers for her,” stated the police department in their press release.
To hold the young girl over as they work to run the DNA test, the Cumberland Police Department did provide her with already uncovered evidence. That evidence included a photo of a possible reindeer—antlers and all.
