A 2-year-old girl died after a mirror fell on top of her at a shoe store in a freak accident at a Payless ShoeSource in Riverdale, Ga., on Friday night.

Ifrah Siddique’s family is devasted about their tragic loss and now are questioning how a trip to buy their little girl a pair of shoes turned into her last day alive. Ifrah was with her mother at the Payless store when an unsecured mirror fell on her, her family says.

“She was really cute. She was an adorable little girl,” a cousin, Aqib Iftkhar, told WSB-TV. “You wouldn’t really expect it. We are all in the state of shock.”

A woman who works next door to the Payless said she heard screams and tried to help. but emergency personnel asked her to step back.

“I just saw blood and the little girl, but she was just laying there lifeless,” La Tisha Tultaick said.

Ifrah was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

“She had internal bleeding and she lost a lot of blood,” Iftkhar told WSB-TV.

The company released a statement saying, “Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Ifrah Siddique during this time of incredible loss. We are devastated by this tragic event and are fully cooperating with authorities to research and understand the nature of this accident.”

“At least they are fixing it, but still the question is: Why wasn’t it secured in the first place?” Iftkhar said.
