You’ll never find a magazine-worthy picture of my cookie tray from my family’s annual Christmas tree-trimming party. That’s because the bottom of the two-tiered tray doesn’t contain cookies. Instead, it's piled high with store-bought, plastic-wrapped Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes—sweet treats my whole family waits all year to return.

That bottom layer may not be as pretty as the top layer, but it’s the one that is always empty by the end of the evening. The golden vanilla-iced Christmas tree-shaped snack cakes with a middle layer of cream are very hard to resist. To be fair, Little Debbie also makes chocolate-flavored Christmas tree cakes, but it’s the vanilla ones that people (including my family) seem to anticipate the most.

Some people buy the cakes and use them as an ingredient in a dip that’s great for wafer cookies or pretzels. Others use either vanilla or chocolate Christmas tree snack cakes to create the easiest cake pops ever.

Not to be left out of the brilliant “snack cake as an ingredient” trend, Little Debbie turned many of its treats into mix-ins for a line of Little Debbie ice cream flavors.

For the holidays last year, the snack food giant mixed pieces of its golden Christmas tree cakes, green sprinkles, and red icing into vanilla ice cream. That ice cream flavor is about to return, along with two new holiday-themed Little Debbie ice cream flavors hitting Walmart store shelves exclusively.

Little Debbie’s New Holiday-Themed Ice Cream Flavors at Walmart

Cherry Cordials are also popular Little Debbie holiday snacks featuring a cherry-flavored creme between two soft vanilla cookies, all coated in chocolate. As Instagram's Markie Devo recently revealed, that snack cake will now become a mix-in for Cherry Cordials Ice Cream.

Additionally, the chocolate variety of the Christmas Tree Cakes will become part of the new Chocolate Christmas Tree Cakes Ice Cream. Devo doesn’t yet know the base ice cream for either of the new flavors. He does know that the ice cream “will head to Walmart exclusively any day now,” and he’s excited because Cherry Cordials is one of his “favorite cakes.”

Are his followers excited? One is so excited he said, “I just licked my iPhone screen.” Not all are as excited about the Cherry Cordial ice cream as he is, though.

“I have never like cherry cordials but I'll take the chocolate tree cake,” said one follower. Another commenter was a little more willing to try it saying, “Cherry Cordials are my least favorite Little Debbie product. That being said, I’ll give it a shot!”

There was not much grumbling about the Christmas Tree variety, though, and one proud aunt commented, “My niece just turned 5 and she asks for the Christmas tree ice cream year round.”

Somehow, I missed that Little Debbie even made ice cream until very recently, but I’ll be searching for either flavor this holiday season!
