Listen to 100 of Anthony Bourdain's Favorite Songs in This 'Roadrunner' Playlist

Filmmaker Morgan Neville's documentary about Anthony Bourdain has found itself in a bit of a controversy lately—but there's no denying that Neville set out to make the most essential, unshakeable tribute to the late chef.

If you had any doubt that Neville is still committed to preserving the legacy of the Parts Unknown mastermind, the director recently revealed that he put together a playlist full of Bourdain's favorite music. He took note of the songs Bourdain has mentioned, asked for some help from the chef's friends, and blended it all into one glorious, 100-some-track-long mix. The playlist begins with "Roadrunner" by The Modern Lovers, of course, but also features songs by Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, and Sonic Youth.

“When I started making the documentary Roadrunner, pretty much the first thing I did was to put together a playlist of all the music that Tony mentioned," Neville said. I kept adding songs he mentioned in books, interviews, Instagram stories, and more. I ended up with about 18-and-a-half hours of music. Recently, I checked with some of Tony’s friends and they added a few more in. It makes one hell of a jukebox.”

Check out the full playlist, which also features Patti Smith, Brian Eno, and The Velvet Underground. And if you haven't seen Roadrunner yet, which debuted earlier this month, here's how you can watch it.
