List: Nashville Public Library’s top 10 most borrowed books in 2023
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Whether it’s sci-fi or romance, fiction or fact, the Nashville Public Library offers plenty of books for readers of all ages and interests.
However, data shows that fiction novels are what Music City readers reached for the most last year.

From a royal memoir to a psychological thriller, here’s a look at the top 10 books readers borrowed most in 2023 at the Nashville Public Library.

Bonnie Garmus’s “Lessons in Chemistry” topped the list. The fiction novel was circulated a total of 1,659 times from the Nashville Public Library in 2023. The book held a place on the New York Times Bestseller list upon its release.
Actress Brie Larson brought the 2022 novel to life with an eight-episode series on Apple TV+, which followed protagonist Elizabeth Zott’s dream of becoming a scientist and later accepting a job on a TV cooking show aiming to teach housewives way more than recipes.

Prince Harry’s “Spare” was a popular read amongst Music City bookworms, ranking fifth on the list. In fact, the tell-all memoir seemed to be a favorite with the readers across the world, topping 1.4 million copies on the first day sales.
While most books on the list were fan favorites in Nashville, several also received national recognition. In fact, nearly all of the most borrowed books from 2023 made appearances on the New York Times Bestseller list.
