Lip Smacker Celebrates 50 Years With a Giant Lip Balm Vault

Cue the nostalgia.

All it takes is hearing the words "Lip Smacker," and we're instantly taken back to our youth. Just the thought of the fuity lip balms conjures up memories of recess, stocking stuffers, and blossoming beauty routines—which, at least for me, involved princess dresses, plastic heels, terribly applied nail polish, and my mom's eyeshadow in all the places eyeshadow shouldn't be.

If you've found yourself missing the candy-colored Lip Smackers of yore—or, if you're looking for the perfect nostalgic gift to give a future beauty lover—you're in luck. The quintessential '90s brand has released a 50th-anniversary vault collection of 50 of their most iconic flavors.

Before Lip Smacker came on the scene in the '70s, flavored lip balms weren't exactly the staple in our purses that they are today. It was the brand's ingenious flavors that started the flavored lip balm craze, and kept teens coming back for more. To this day, the brand is known for its good-enough-to-eat scents, including frappe, Cherry Coke, vanilla, and those inspired by Disney characters like Frozen's Elsa.

All of those flavors—new, special-edition, and classic—are exactly what are included in the 50th-anniversary vault collection. 50 of the brand's favorite flavors are contained in a huge replica of the iconic Lip Smacker tube—a pink one with the retro rainbow logo, to be exact. The tube is modeled after the strawberry flavor that started it all, and paved the way for the Rhode Strawberry Lip Treat all the It-girls can't live without today.
