Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi have reportedly reached a verbal pact for the player to stay with the club. The verbal agreement means that Messi has committed to extending his contract with PSG, according to CBS Sports insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentinian national recently won 2022 FIFA World Cup against France and his teammate Kylian Mbappé. While there is no word on the length of the contract and salary terms, it is expected that Messi will stay for at least one more season. PSG Chairman and CEO Nasser Al Khelaifi is working together with sporting advisor Luis Campos to finalize a deal with the football superstar.

At age 35, Messi is one of the most decorated footballers in the history of the sport. The news of the verbal agreement comes amidst rumors of him joining David Beckham's MLS team, Inter Miami FC. Back in October, the club was reportedly "increasingly confident" that it would be able to sign Lionel Messi. It is no secret that PSG wants to extend Messi's contract. In an interview with RMC Sport, Al-Khelaifi outlined his desire to keep both Messi and Mbappé, "Keep Mbappé and Messi? Of course, one is the top scorer and the other is best player in the World Cup."

It remains to be seen how Messi's deal will play out.
