Lindsay Lohan's 'Mean Girls' Manicure Was a Secret Nod to The Plastics

No, it's not pink.

When Mean Girls hit theaters in 2004, it was clear it was going to be a timeless cult classic (well, it wasn't clear to me, I was only four, but I quickly grew up and caught on). However, little did we know it would spur a sequel, a Broadway musical, and, now, another blockbuster movie based on the beloved stage production. The last of which just had its global red carpet premiere in New York City, seeing Plastics new and old come together to celebrate the new era.

The latest Regina George, Reneé Rapp, was there. Megan Thee Stallion was there thanks to her repeat-worthy anthem on the movie's soundtrack. Plus, to our surprise, so was the OG Cady Heron, Lindsay Lohan, who celebrated the occasion with Old Hollywood waves and asubtle sparkly French manicure we can't stop thinking about.

Paired with her perfectly blown-out auburn hair and an Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown with side-baring cut-outs and a bedazzled belt accent, Lohan continued the sparkle to her fingertips, accenting her classic white French tips with a strip of glitter.

The mani was the work of celebrity manicurist Elle Gerstein, who used all Après products to create what would have otherwise been a classic French manicure. Except, in addition to the glossy baby pink beds and pristine white tips, there was also a thin strip of gold and silver sparkles where the base intersected with the tip.

If you have watched Mean Girls as much as we have in its 20 year rule, you would know that Regina George didn't leave the house without her nails painted with a classic French tip. It's what she wore to shop at the mall, write some nasty insults in the Burn Book, and the nails she would use to angrily hang up her flip phone. However, she never added a strip of glitter—that part was all Lohan.

Luckily for us, if you saw the actor's manicure and instantly wanted to replicate it to go watch the new set of Plastics in action; we have you covered with the exact shades Gerstein used on the star.

To create the glossy, sheer base, Gerstein coated Lohan's nails in Après' Vintage Carnation ($15) shade. Then, she created the white tips using the brand's Winter Aurora ($15) shade, which came with its own teeny bit of sparkle.

However, to create the small wispy lines of sparkle underneath the tips, Gerstein grabbed Après Golden Anniversary ($15) and New Year's Wishes ($15) to add a few different dimensions of shine on each nail.
