Lindsay Lohan, Reese Witherspoon, and More Celebs Praise Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next"

It’s no surprise or secret that Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” music video was a huge success. Within 24 hours of its release, the video broke YouTube’s record for most views in a day, and also set a new record for Vevo as well. And it wasn’t just the fans that were over-the-moon with excitement over Ari’s smash hit; the celebs in the OG movies she recreated were just as thrilled by the video.

During the five-minute musical gem, Ariana took fans through four iconic ‘00s movies: Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and Bring It On. The trip down memory lane was clearly a delight, as Ari managed to recruit several original cast members for her video, including Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls) and Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette from Legally Blonde). (And according to “thank u, next” director Hannah Lux Davis, actor Matthew Davis, who played Warner, almost made it into the video — just think of what could have been!)

But even if they weren’t involved, the actors from Ari’s favorite movies definitely watched the video — and many of them were quick to tell the singer how much they loved it. (I’m still crying over this exchange between Ariana and Jennifer Garner.) Ahead, check out every OG star who has gushed over “thank u, next” — including THE Elle Woods herself.

Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron in Mean Girls)

Lindsay paid tribute to Ariana’s recreation of the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” dance by posting a video from the 2004 movie. “All of the original Mean Girls are very flattered,” she said.

Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls)

Even though Jonathan participated in the music video, he still couldn’t help but post about it on Instagram, calling the experience “Iconic.” We couldn’t agree more!

Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods in Legally Blonde)

It’s clear that Reese was very excited about Ari’s video. On Instagram, she shared a side-by-side picture of herself and Ariana in full Elle Woods gear, and she also complimented the singer’s perfect Bend-n-Snap skills.

Gabrielle Union (Isis in Bring It On)

While Gabrielle wasn’t in the “thank u, next” video, it seems as though she’s still down to join in on the fun. “Currently stretching in case of a remix,” she wrote on Twitter.

Mark Ruffalo (Matt AKA “Matty” in 13 Going on 30)

The OG 13 Going on 30 star wrote that he was “having some Razzles” in Ariana’s honor. OK this is just too cute.

Jennifer Garner (Jenna Rink in 13 Going on 30)

On Instagram, Jennifer wrote that the “thank u, next” video brightened her day, calling Ariana “adorable” in her post. But it seems as though Jennifer’s tribute brightened Ari’s day as well, as the singer commented: “Nooooooooo I’m crying. I watched this movie every night before bed growing up (and I still do sometimes, especially when I’m sad). I adore you! Thank you for all the inspiration and joy you’ve brought to my life. I’m screaming.” SAME.
