Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th birthday last month, and this June will mark her Platinum Jubilee, which honors her 70-year-reign. And it sounds like it's going to be an occasion to remember.

Lin-Manuel Miranda revealed at the Met Gala on Monday that he's collaborating with Andrew Lloyd Webber on a "project" for the Jubilee. According to What's On Stage, the two musical theater legends are keeping the details of their collaboration under wraps, but it's bound to be something musical.

Webber reportedly called Miranda directly, and asked him to come on board for a "once in a lifetime project," according to The Mirror. The newspaper described the project as a "musical extravaganza, which will pay tribute to the Queen's historic reign.

“It’s a hugely intense and passionate project from both composers and will celebrate the incredible history from the Queen’s 70 years on the throne," a source told The Mirror. "One of the main themes both composers wanted to get across and celebrate was the wonderful and rich diversity of Britain and the Commonwealth, of which the Queen is so fond... The live performance will involve a diverse mix of rich talent from theatreland who are all delighted they can also pay their own special tribute to the Queen.”

Buckingham Palace has announced a slate of special celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee weekend, which will take place from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5. The events will include a special Trooping the Colour, a Service of Thanksgiving, and a Jubilee Pageant. There will also be a concert held at the palace, where Miranda and Webber's musical project is expected to take center stage.

In Hamilton, Miranda hilariously portrayed King George III (as played by Jonathan Groff) as a pompous, unhinged maniac who cheerfully declares war via Beatles-inspired pop songs. We'll just have to wait and see how QE2's tribute stacks up.
