This Limited Edition Beer is Brewed With Auntie Anne's Pretzels

When you think Auntie Anne's, you think pretzels and probably not beer.

But all of that is about to change now that the company has partnered with Evil Genius to create a limited edition lager brewed with its famous pretzels.

In a video posted to TikTok, the popular hot pretzel company announced that it had partnered with the Philadelphia-based brewer for an Oktoberfest special.

"We partnered with @EvilGeniusBeer to create our own Oktoberfest Lager made with our pretzels," Auntie Anne's announced in the caption.

The brew is called "Is Butter A Carb?" and it's the first beer available for purchase that features Auntie Anne’s iconic soft pretzels as an ingredient.

According to a press release shared with Parade, the limited-edition beverage is a timeless riff on the Oktoberfest-style lager. "Is Butter a Carb?" is brewed not only with Auntie Anne’s pretzels, but also with imported German hops and malts for a prominent toasty flavor profile that's rounded out with pleasant saltiness.

"The only thing better than pretzels AND beer, is pretzels IN beer," Evil Genius co-founder Trevor Hayward stated in the release. "We really wanted to tie the brands together in a fun way that reminds you of biting into a warm pretzel with every sip."

"It was important to us to not only create a beer made with our iconic pretzels, but also a beer that could be enjoyed alongside our pretzels," added Auntie Anne's Director of Brand Marketing, Danika Brown. "We knew we wanted something that would transport our fans and allow them to feel like they were celebrating Oktoberfest in Germany."

"Is Butter a Carb?" is currently available to purchase in store by those 21+ in select states including: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

To kick off the release, Evil Genius has plans to host an Oktoberfest Party at the brewery in Philadelphia on Aug. 18 complete with the Auntie Anne's crew—a stein hoisting competition, the Auntie Anne's Food Truck, and, of course, traditional German music.
