Lily-Rose Depp Dons Risqué Lace Dress to Promote New Show

The controversial HBO TV show The Idol is set to premiere in a few weeks, and series star Lily-Rose Depp was happy to promote it ahead of its June 4 release.

The 23-year-old shared a new photo on Instagram of herself in a sultry black lace mini dress, captioning it, "Little Miss Idol." She also tagged the show, as well as makeup artist Kirsten Sage Coleman and hairstylist Christopher Fulton.

Coleman commented on the post, writing, "One of my favorite makeups for the show!"

The dress was made by Taiwanese textile artist Shawna Wu, who also wrote under the photo, "Loved making this dress for u🤍."

Fans shared their excitement for the show and support for Depp in the comments, as one wrote, "So excited & so ready for Jocelyn 🖤," referencing her character.

Depp stars in The Idol as Jocelyn, a pop star who suffers a nervous breakdown that derails her career. She soon meets a man named Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), who she believes can bring her to new heights of fame.

The show has had a lot of controversy surrounding it, with reports of production issues and internal disagreements.

Amy Seimetz (The Girlfriend Experience) was first hired to direct the entire show, but she left in April 2022 with most of it already shot.

Show co-creator Sam Levinson, who also created Euphoria, was brought in to replace her, and according to an in-depth report from Rolling Stone, he completely changed the show, its tone, and its message, ramping up production costs.

One crew member reportedly said of the changes, “It was a show about a woman who was finding herself sexually, turned into a show about a man who gets to abuse this woman and she loves it.”

HBO responded with a statement saying that the network has "been working hard to create one of HBO's most exciting and provocative original programs."

The statement further said, "The initial approach on the show and production of the early episodes, unfortunately, did not meet HBO standards so we chose to make a change."

Because of the show's stars and the overarching controversy, many are waiting to see how The Idol turns out when it finally premieres at the beginning of June.
