Lilly Pulitzer's Granddaughter Is Releasing a Children's Book

Lilly Pulitzer's signature style has made the label that bears her name a fashion icon. Packed with eye-catching prints and juicy colors, their wares evoke not just a style, but a lifestyle—one that Lilly's granddaughter, Lilly Leas Ferreira, is offering a special peek into with her upcoming children's book, Life and Lilly.

Inspired by her childhood growing up in Palm Beach, the book centers on "Little Lilly" (Ferreira's childhood nickname) as she explores the place she lives, riding bikes and skateboards, taking in the sandy beaches and architectural landmarks of the famous island community.

"Each page of my book is a snapshot of a treasured memory like jumping in the ocean, riding a bike, and exploring the streets of Palm Beach around neighbors and shop owners who became extended family." Ferreira told People.

Considering the Lilly Pulitzer is famous for their beautiful patterns, it's only natural that the pages of Life and Lilly are populated by colorful hand-painted illustrations and watercolor motifs crafted by the Lilly Pulitzer Print Studio, some of which were inspired by original drawings by Ferreira's mother.

And, of course, the Lillys, both little and big, play a significant role in the story, which ends at one of Lilly Pulitzer's famous parties."Granny created her own rules not only in fashion but also at home," Ferreira explained. "Children were invited to every dinner party. Bare feet and bathing suits were encouraged. Unless, of course, it was a costume party then the wilder the look the better. Most important, every person and every animal was showered with love."

In fact, in homage to her grandmother's love of animals, 10% of profits from the sale of the book will be donated to animal rescue organizations.

Life and Lilly by Lilly Leas Ferreira debuts April 4, 2023.
