  • Someone tweeted Lili Reinhart about how the cast of Riverdale appears to have perfect bodies while playing teenagers.

  • She responded with, "Actually, not everyone on this show is perfectly chiseled," and said people’s expectations of her body have made her self-conscious.

Lili Reinhart has been super open about her body image and mental health issues in the past. Back in 2018, she said she "developed slight body dysmorphia" and would do her makeup in the dark to avoid seeing her acne. Now that Lili pretty much lives her life in the spotlight as a star on Riverdale, she has to deal with her body image and people seeing her body on a large scale.

Last night, Lili responded to a tweet and got real about how expectations about her body from other people make her feel. The original tweet has been deleted, but it's quoted below:

"@lilireinhart just curious. Why is every single person on riverdale a 25+ year old portraying teenager with perfectly chiseled bodies," the tweet asked. "Don't you think TV shows like this aimed at teenagers are contributing to unrealistic body expectations body image issues?"

Lili let this person know they have the wrong idea. "Actually, not everyone on this show is perfectly chiseled. And even I feel intimidated by the physique of my surrounding cast mates sometimes when I have to do bra/underwear scenes," the tweet says. "I’ve felt very insecure due to the expectation that people have for women on tv, what they should look like."

Lili went on to say that she did a scene in her underwear that made her feel obligated to "be strong and show confidence" for those who watch Riverdale. "This industry struggles with accurate representation of female and male bodies," another tweet in the thread said. "So I commend the women who have helped our industry take a step in the right ~and authentic~ direction."
