Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Pregnancy Rumors
Because the internet can be completely UGH, Riverdale star Lili Reinhart recently had to deal with fans speculating that she's pregnant with her boyfriend Cole Sprouse's baby.
Lili shut down the rumors on May 28, hitting up Insta Stories with a series of posts explaining that nope, she is not pregnant, and that yep, judging women on their bodies is gross. "It's unfortunate that one unflattering photo of my stomach circulating the internet causes hundreds of people to think that I'm pregnant," she said at the time. "This is just my body. And sometimes I'm bloated. Sometimes an unflattering photo is taken of me. Sometimes I go through periods of time where I gain weight."
Flash-forward a few days, and the actress is once again talking about those pregnancy rumors-telling ET that they affected her self esteem. "It was bugging me and at first it was really upsetting," she said. "I'm 21-I'm not pregnant. I don’t want people to think I'm pregnant if I'm not pregnant. It did take a hit to my self-esteem for a second and then I kind of picked myself back up and said, 'I'm not going to let this ruin my day!'"
She also said that people encouraged her to just ignore the speculation, but she didn't take their advice. "I feel like a lot of people say you should just sweep it under the rug, don’t pay attention to it, but that’s never really been my style," she explained. "Maybe some people find that obnoxious, whatever, but no, I felt the need to say, 'No. I'm not pregnant.'"
She reiterated, "It's kind of sad that people felt the need to just make my weight a topic of conversation, but it's just the world we live in."
