Lili Reinhart expertly clapped back at people making assumptions about her relationship with Cole Sprouse

We don’t know shit, apparently. That’s the message Lili Reinhart is sending us today via Instagram, and honestly, we applaud her for giving it to us straight. Rumors have been swirling that Reinhart and boyfriend Cole Sprouse split since the Riverdale cast attended Comic-Con last week. At the event, a “reliable source” claims to have overheard Sprouse discussing the breakup. Fans have been going crazy over the alleged Sprousehart split, and Reinhart is fed up with all of the assumptions.

The 22-year-old took to Instagram to clap back at trolls who think they know everything about her relationship. She posted a photo of herself and Sprouse on the cover of W Magazine looking…well, not broken up. “BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit,” she captioned the pic.

Sprouse also posted the photo with a caption reading “UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult.”

So…what does it all mean?

Do these captions hint that the couple (are they a couple?) is frustrated by anonymous “reliable sources” spreading rumors about their relationship, meaning there never was such a source in the first place? Maybe this means Sprousehart is still going strong? Or maybe they actually are forming a sex cult? We’ll never know. And really, it’s none of our business anyway.

This cover shot was taken several months ago, so it’s possible that’s why the pair is so cozy—it may have been shot before the potential breakup. It’s confusing, to say the least. But maybe that’s what Reinhart and Sprouse want to reinforce: that only they know what’s up.

When they first began dating, Sprouse and Reinhart kept their relationship under wraps for a while.

But eventually, they became more comfortable sharing photos together on social media. This inevitably made fans hungry for more adorable photos of the couple together. In the W Magazine interview, Reinhart explained why she’s happy keeping the majority of her relationship private.

As Reinhart pointed out, no one knows the intricacies of a relationship except for the people in the relationship—and that’s how it should be. It’s time we give celebrity couples a little room to breathe. Regardless of if they’re still together or not, we’re cheering both Lili and Cole on, and we respect their choice to take control of their narrative. But we’ve gotta say, they do look incredible together on this cover.
