The Light Within: A response to destructive nature

The on-going disastrous acts of nature again raise deep concern.

Some people even designate “seasons” for these acts of nature. And, God might be “blamed” by some because they don’t know why they occur.

The question remains: Would the God who has created and loved His creation also destroy it?

Christ Jesus spoke of God as being good. Among many blessings was the quieting of violent storms (see Mark 4:35-41).

In Elijah’s experience during a destructive force of nature “…the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (I Kings 19:11-12).

Could it be that if we pray more often for God’s protection before these “seasons” of destruction or unexpected natural disasters occur, that some may be destroyed? But, since we seem to “expect” these horrible occurrences thrust on humanity in fear, could that be, in part, why they occur?

Although I do not claim to have a complete explanation, I leave these insights that we may ponder and express.

I do believe that our prayers for protection from natural disasters just might reduce these forces on God’s creation that He loves so very much.
