The third and final season of Ricky Gervais' After Life was released on Netflix last week, and viewers have all taken to Twitter to share the same opinion.

The dark comedy follows Tony (played by Gervais), a journalist who is grieving his wife Lisa's death, after she passed away to cancer. Now a widower, Tony begins to approach life with a 'I don't give a f***' attitude, only for his family and friends to stage an intervention.

The six episode series was released on 14 January 2021, and fans have all taken to social media to share how touched they are by Tony's story. In fact, many say they've been emotional from the first 10 minutes.

"Jesus Christ I’m an emotional wreck after season 3 of #AfterLife once again all the emotions and feeling excellently portrayed by @rickygervais," one fan wrote. Another put, "After Life what an emotional rollercoaster."

Someone else said, "What a fantastic series 3 of After Life, such an emotional and heartfelt series." Another comment concluded, "#AfterLife is the best show on TV. I can only watch one episode a day. Too emotional and too funny for me to take much more."

Season two of After Life saw Tony lose his Dad, and was left on a cliffhanger with a question mark hanging over the potential relationship between Tony and Emma (Ashley Jensen), the care home nurse who cared for his elderly father in season one. Is he about to find his passion for life again?
