Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson Sang "Happy Birthday" to Niall Horan During the Coca-Cola Music Experience Festival

We're officially a step closer to a One Direction reunion.

As noted by JustJared Jr., band members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson recently met up in Spain where they both were performing at the 2019 Coca-Cola Music Experience Festival. While there, they led a crowd of excited fans in a rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Niall Horan, who wasn't in attendance but was clearly in their thoughts.

A fan account captured video of the serenade, which shows Liam onstage on September 13, Niall's birthday. "There's something else I was forgetting about today," the singer says. "Louis is hiding out there somewhere as well." The crowd then erupts in screams of excitement, which only ramps up when Liam continues. "We both discussed that we forgot to wish Niall a happy birthday, so should we just sing him a quick 'Happy Birthday?'" While Louis doesn't head up to the stage, we know he was singing along from wherever he was "hiding," and we're pretty sure Niall could feel the love from wherever he was on his special day.

Fans were thrilled with the shoutout. "True friendship is when you sing happy birthday to your friend who’s not even in the same country as you," wrote one. "This was so cute n sweet I can't," tweeted another.

Though the band is on an indefinite hiatus, several members of One Direction have talked about a possible reunion. In May, Louis said it's "inevitable" that the boys will reunite, though they're exploring their solo careers at the moment. The group caused some chatter about a reunion when their official Instagram was mysteriously reactivated, but no one ever figured out why the account was suddenly live again. (Liam denied reactivating it, and none of the other band members have 'fessed up since.)

In his interview with Rolling Stone, Harry Styles said he'd be open to a reunion if the whole group was really on board. "If there’s a time when we all really want to do it, that’s the only time for us to do it, because I don’t think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we’re all like, ‘Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again.’"

While it looks like all of the boys are busy with their solo careers and a 1D reunion is probably not happening right this second, it's obvious that they still love and care about each other. We'll be keeping an eye on Niall's social channels to see if he responds to that adorable birthday serenade from his bandmates — or returns the favor when they celebrate their special days.
