Liam Payne and Cheryl Just Announced Their Split
Summer 2018 giveth, and Summer 2018 taketh away-and we've gotten our first celebrity split of the season. Sadly, former One Direction member Liam Payne and English singer Cheryl have officially parted ways after over two years together. The pair went public with their romance in 2015, after meeting on set of X Factor U.K. in 2008, where Cheryl was a judge and Liam was a contestant.
The former couple announced their split via social media, writing "We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."

Liam and Cheryl welcomed their son Bear in March 2017. Flash-forward a year, and Liam opened up about the challenges in their relationship:
"The funniest thing was a week before we were getting married. The next week we’re splitting up," he told ES Magazine of speculation on their relationship. "And the thing for me is, I just like to think we’re somewhere in the middle. You know, we have our struggles-like of course I’m not gonna sit here and say that everything’s absolutely fine and dandy, because of course you go through different things, and that’s what a relationship is. But we go through them together as a family and that’s the most important thing for me."
Meanwhile in February, Cheryl hit Twitter to shut down rumors of a split:
