Liam Neeson Says Meeting Helen Mirren Was Love at First Sight

Liam Neeson just remembered the first time he laid eyes on Helen Mirren, and it’s pretty much a George and Amal Clooney love story 2.0.

When Neeson and Mirren appeared on The Graham Norton Show last Friday, the talk show host was quick to remind the audience that Neeson and Mirren used to date, which prompted The Commuter star to recall their adorable meet-cute.

Mirren corrected Norton about the extent of their relationship, saying, “We didn’t date. We lived together for four years—lucky me!” Neeson went on to admit that they met on the set of their 1981 film Excalibur, and it was, in fact, love at first sight (for him, at least).

He said, “She walked from like 100 yards away dressed as Morgana le Fay, and Ciarán Hinds [Neeson’s Excalibur costar], my oldest friend, we both went: F***. So I was smitten. I think Ciarán was smitten too, but I was certainly smitten.”

Mirren, who appeared just as surprised as us, responded, “I never knew that! You’ve never told me that before. That’s amazing.”

Ugh, we love it so much.
