Liam Hemsworth Has Reportedly Filed for Divorce From Miley Cyrus

If you’re personally invested in the Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth relationship, you may want to sit down for this one. TMZ reports that Liam has filed for divorce from Miley, his wife of less than one year.

Though rumors of a reconciliation have been floating around the couple, Liam has reportedly filed for divorce in Los Angeles — citing irreconcilable differences — following the news of their separation. TMZ also reports that the two signed a prenup before tying the knot.

Fans were surprised to hear of Miley and Liam’s split when Miley’s rep released a statement on August 11, saying, “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.” The pair met in 2010 on the set of their movie The Last Song and were briefly engaged, then split before reuniting and quietly tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in December of 2018.

Both partners have spoken out about their relationship; Miley talked about change in an Instagram post after news of the split broke, and Liam wished his ex “health and happiness” in a post of his own. Miley also released a new song, “Slide Away,” which some believe is about their breakup. Neither Miley nor Liam has given an explicit statement about why they decided to separate.
