Levittown to get 'Two and a Fry' hot dog joint. Check out their signature deal

A family-owned hot dog joint serving American grub at low prices may set up at a shuttered doctor's office near a busy intersection in Falls.

Two and a Fry, which has one location in Monongahela, in western Pennsylvania, sought and received several variances for setbacks, buffers and a waiver for a drive-through bypass lane at 8025 Mill Creek Parkway near the lower North Park section of Levittown.

Jennifer Gage, who lives in Levittown's Thornridge section, and is the daughter of hot dog store owner James Pelissero, requested the variances.

The zoning breaks also include permission to set an outdoor dining area within 250 feet of a residential neighborhood, when a 500 feet is required. Gage also sought an exemption from a dedicated truck delivery area, since the place is small. The Falls Zoning Hearing board agreed to the requests at its meeting on April 9.

It's up to the township Board of Supervisors to grant final approval.

The shuttered physician's office at 8025 Mill Creek Road in Falls could become the second location of Two and a Fry, a fast food joint from western Pa.

The meeting, a busy one with many agenda items, drew a larger than normal audience, among them a neighbor from nearby New Pond Lane, who didn't like the idea of the outdoor dining area so close to her yard.

Also, a potentially high-volume fast food place with a drive-through lane large enough to stack up to 10 vehicles will make the intersection at Mill Creek Parkway and Fallsington-Tullytown Road a mess, she said. This brought head nods and sympathy among some locals in attendance.

But their mood shifted when Gage's lawyer, representing her at the hearing, asked, "What does 'Two and a Fry' mean? What does it refer to?"

Gage said it's the eatery's stock deal — two hot dogs, french fries and a drink for $5.

"Five bucks? Even with inflation?" the lawyer asked Gage.

Even with inflation, she said. The price won't change.

Murmurs of approval circulated through the meeting room about the $5 deal.

Two and a Fry currently rates 4.5 out of 5 on Yelp! reviews.

"We were craving some sloppy good American grub, that's what led us to Two and a Fry. Prices were reasonable, food was an abundant ... and everything was super tasty," wrote a reviewer from Dec. 2023 about the Monongahela store.

Gage told the zoners that the shop will employ four or five people, mostly family members. It will be open six days, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., but is closed on Sundays.

Owner and founder Jim Pelissero said the brick residence on the property will stay. It will be repurposed as the store.

His prices are a relief for working families. With two hot dogs, fries and a Coke, a family of five can eat for $25. Among the best compliments he received from a customer was this: "A lady comes up to me and says, 'Jim, I eat your hot dogs and I'm not burping the rest of the day.' You know why? 'Cause we're quality."

He hopes to make his stores a national franchise.

"We're small beans now but we're gonna make this happen in Levittown," he said.
