Let’s Discuss Erykah Badu’s Soul Train Awards Outfit

Erykah Badu is no shrinking violet and she reminded us of that on the red carpet for the 2015 Soul Train Awards Show (airing Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET,) which she was hosting. For such a gig, Badu had to pull out all the stops with her outfit and boy, did she ever. The singer donned an a black floor-length gown with enormous, billowing sleeves.
From the front, Badu’s look was certainly a head-turner, but the back proved to be just as dramatic, with a blinging, geometric metallic gold panel that provided a dash of unexpected flair.

Badu accessorized with a Lincoln-esque top hat, honeycomb-shaped cuffs (complete with honey bees), two claw-like gold nail rings, some chains, smoky eyes and an eggplant pout.

Janelle Monáe also failed to disappoint in the style department, turning out for the event in her customary black-and-white, this time donning a white blouse, black skirt, embellished jacket and over the knee boots with a tie and pearls galore. Her fingerless gloves are giving us ultimate Karl Lagerfeld vibes and her interlocking C Chanel tie clip was a reminder that the lady always looks smashing in Chanel. Don’t you ever forget it!
