Let the Olsen Twins’ Teen Movies Be Your Summer Style Guide
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen turn 32 today—a hard thing to believe. Though the fashion-forward duo’s most recent claims to fame include designing sleek separates for The Row and looking effortlessly chic on every public outing, for most millennials, the Olsen twins’ most iconic style moments can be found in their straight-to-video movies, particularly those from the late ’90s to early 2000s.
Luckily, most of the Olsens’ iconic tween fashion staples have won us over again just in time for summer. From the micro-framed, colorfully tinted sunglasses they sport in Billboard Dad to the bucket hats and underarm purses that make Passport to Paris and Our Lips Are Sealed so memorable, these are the looks most ’90s girls grew up with and can’t help coming back to again and again. For Spring 2018, brands like Prada and Susan Alexandra experimented with shoulder bags in smaller proportions and fun prints, while Fendi reissued its logoed bucket hat, which Mary Kate wore as she boarded her flight to the Bahamas in Holiday in the Sun.
