Leslie Odom Jr. Is on the Crest of Fashion's Next Wave at the 2021 Golden Globes

I'll start you out with the good news: There was a point, brief though it may have been, at which I considered trying to start this post with a Hamilton reference. Something about how Leslie Odom, Jr. is no longer willing to wait for it—it's from the song; get it!?!!—because he's shown up for the Golden Globes dressed like he knows exactly what's next in fashion and he's already riding that wave. I will not do that, mostly because in the relaying of that anecdote, I've already done it. (This is what we call having your cake and eating it, too. Or something.)

Anyway. Leslie Odom, Jr.—who's up for an award for his song in the musical that just popped back into your head and will without a doubt stay there for the next few months, plus his supporting role in One Night in Miami—showed up for the 2021 edition of the Golden Globes wearing an Extremely Good look from the spring 2021 Valentino couture show, putting him in (also Extremely Good) company with Dan Levy, as well as an Octo Roma watch and B.zero1 Roma 4-band ring from Bulgari.

Bulgari "blends timeless and classic with a bold and contemporary style," Odom, Jr. tells Esquire. "They specialize in everyday elegance, which I felt perfectly completed the look tonight. It's buttoned up but there's a relaxation to it. Just what I was looking for."

That's to complement the dusty pink, not-quite-double-breasted (it's buttonless) suit, pink dress shirt, and neon green turtleneck (as a base layer!) that the actor and singer is wearing this evening. "It felt classic and bold," he says of the accessories choice. It's "a good lane for any of us." In fact, recent offerings from the Italian jeweler and watchmaker—like Odom, Jr.'s Octo Roma and its cousin, the Octo Finissimo—feel poised to catch on big in the world of celebrity style this year, positioning the move as not only a stylish one but a savvy one, too.

And as for the Globes themselves? Odom, Jr. calls this past year, "such a weird year for us all. 'Worst of times and best of times' type stuff. But, like everyone else, part of what has sustained and given me hope over the past year has been art. Great cinema and compelling storytelling on television. For me, it means the world to be included in the celebration of all of that work."
