Leonardo DiCaprio Had the Honor of Meeting Greta Thunberg

Famous people have rallied behind Greta Thunberg of late, with everyone from Anne Hathaway to Billie Eilish sending support to the teen climate activist.

The latest celebrity to get on board the Greta train is none other than Leonardo DiCaprio, who Instagrammed a photo of himself and Thunberg against a beautiful outdoor, floral backdrop:

“There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time,” DiCaprio captioned the photo. This is high praise indeed from DiCaprio, whose eponymous foundation has been advocating against climate change since 1998.

DiCaprio’s climate activism, which even made him the butt of a gentle joke in the Ali Wong/Randall Park Netflix comedy Always Be My Maybe, has apparently earned him an audience with Thunberg, whose School Strike for Climate initiative has turned her into a bona fide celebrity in her own right. (There’s no surer sign of left-wing fame than being mocked by President Trump on Twitter.)

It’s nice to see Thunberg and DiCaprio spending time together in the great outdoors. Thunberg is currently in Los Angeles for Friday’s Youth Climate Strike, according to her Instagram. The presence of local flora in the background of DiCaprio’s photo suggests he and Thunberg are on some sort of mountain or hiking trail, but they don’t seem like the Runyon Canyon type (too celeb-y). They could be at Temescal Canyon, but the cell reception is notoriously bad there, so I’m going to go out on a limb and guess they met up at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook in Culver City. Drop a pin and prove me right, Leo!
