Leonardo DiCaprio Got Dragged at the Golden Globes for Dating Younger Women

No celebrity was spared during Ricky Gervais’s totally uncensored Golden Globes monologue at last night’s ceremony—not even the seemingly untouchable Leonardo DiCaprio. Or his brow-raising dating life.

One of the most jaw-dropping jabs during Gervais’s speech happened when Gervais mentioned the Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood star’s preference for “younger” women. The actor is currently dating 22-year-old Mickey and the Bear actress Camila Morrone.

“[The Irishman] wasn’t the only epic movie,” began Gervais. “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood [is] nearly three hours long. Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere, and by the end, his date was too old for him.”

The actor simply laughed it off.

DiCaprio’s dating history is notorious to say the least. While the actor has always had a preference for gorgeous runway models and A-list actresses—he had previous long-term relationships with models Gisele Bündchen and Bar Refaeli, a few-month fling with Blake Lively, and even a hotly rumored rendezvous with Rihanna—his preference over the last few years has steered toward women of the younger variety. Gervais has been one of the only people unafraid to say it aloud in front of DiCaprio himself.

Morrone, DiCaprio’s latest girlfriend, has acknowledged her relationship with the 45-year-old actor and defended their age gap to the Los Angeles Times.

“There’s so many relationships in Hollywood⁠—and in the history of the world⁠—where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date,” the model and actress told the newspaper. She also added that she understands the intrigue behind the relationship and that she “probably would be curious too” from the outside looking in.
