Leo Rodgers is officially a sponsored athlete.

On Friday, July 10, Crust Bikes, RonsBikes, and Ultradynamico announced that they have signed Rodgers to their Factory PRO Recreation TEAM for 2021. Rodgers is the first pro recreation athlete signed by these brands.

Crust Bikes / RonsBikes / Ultradynamico tires officially announce the bike lifestyle paid sponsorship of Leo Rodgers, signed in hand sanitizer,” per a press release put together by Matt Whitehead and Cheech Casaverde with Crust Bikes, and Tenzin Namdol (Nam) and Ronnie Romance of RonsBikes / Ultradynamico. “We have countless great J.F.F. projects to share once we are able to do that kind of stuff again, in addition to supporting and promoting Leo’s foundation initiative and his public speaking events—including signature products. We are so excited to be able to offer Leo this kind of support, and it wouldn’t be at all possible without the amazing alternative cycling culture and customer base we have here,”

The subject of Bicycling’s recent cover story, Rodgers lost his left leg 13 years ago in a motorcycle accident. He turned to cycling a few years later, choosing to get around mostly via bike instead of using a prothesis.

Rodgers became a prominent figure in the local cycling community in the Tampa, Florida, area. After competing in Paralympic track cycling—he raced four times at the U.S. Paralympic Track Cycling Open and won eight total medals—he turned to competitive gravel riding, and has already taken on races like DK and Grinduro.

Just a few weeks ago, Rodgers made the leap to move from Florida to Costa Mesa, California, where he hopes to grow his foundation—which you can support via a GoFundMe fundraiser, started by Tampa-based photographer James Luedde—and find more opportunities as an inspirational speaker. Per an update on the GoFundMe, he recently shared his story with an adaptive physical education class at the University of Nevada, Reno.
