Len Goodman might've been a little prophetic, as he casually predicted his own death last year when he retired.

The beloved Dancing With the Stars judge passed away at the age of 78 on April 22. He was previously diagnosed with bone cancer.

Last December, as the professional dancer retired from his long run on the popular dance competition series, he spoke with The Daily Mail about his future, including his thoughts on when he would die.

Goodman predicted that he would die the same time his father, Leonard Gordon Goodman, did, at the age of 79. He said: "My dad had the right idea. He loved gardening and he had a stroke while he was out in the garden. He was 79, so if I go the way of my dad, that'll be next year."

Well, Goodman turned out to be almost spot on, as the English dancer would've turned 79 on April 25.

Based on his attitude in the interview last year, Goodman had a great perspective on death, telling the publication, "I don't make a fuss about stuff like that. It's like when you have a car — you keep it serviced but even so, you'll have some trouble with your carburetor and you'll need to get it fixed, and eventually the whole thing will conk out, and there you go."

He concluded, "It's more about the journey, and mine has been lovely."

Goodman is an icon in the entertainment industry, especially in the dancing world, and many people, both famous friends and fans, mourned the loss after his passing.

He was a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, a popular dance competition show in the UK, before joining the American version, Dancing with the Stars, as a judge when the show first premiered in 2005. He appeared in all seasons since, save season 21.

The late TV personality retired in December in order to spend more time with his family, particularly his grandkids.
