When Legoland New York opens on March 31, it will be a newly Certified Autism Center.

The theme park resort, located in Hudson Valley, New York, is working with the International board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), Legoland NY shared with Travel + Leisure on Thursday. In reaching such a designation, the park will “train all staff in best practices in serving guests with autism and their families.”

Attractions will be marked clearly with a Sensory Guide that will indicate whether guests need to be aware of loud sounds, bright lights, or other triggers. The park will also provide sensory guides in paper form and online in order for families to plan ahead. A quiet room will be provided and dedicated to children with a variety of sensory needs.

“Combatting overstimulation and anxiety, families can decompress with weighted blankets, dim lighting and tactile toys” the park shared with T+L of the quiet room.

The announcement comes after Legoland Florida — which includes Legoland theme park, waterpark, Peppa Pig Theme Park, and three on-site resorts — became a Certified Autism Center in 2022.

Legoland New York’s announcement also included the upcoming opening of a new attraction, a water playground, expected to welcome guests beginning Memorial Day weekend. The theme park, which includes seven LEGO themed lands, is built specifically for families with children ages two through 12. Legoland New York features a LEGO Factory Adventure ride, the signature Dragon coaster, Lego NinJango The Ride, and an on-site Legoland Hotel.

When the theme park opens it will bring back fan favorite signature experiences and new events, including Ninjango Days, Red, White, and BOOM!, Brick-Or-Treat, and Holiday Bricktacular. It is currently offering a promotion on season passes and 1-day theme park tickets begin at $67.99 per person.
