Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night oil-on-canvas painting is one of the most recognizable pieces of art in the world. It was painted in June 1889, and the original hangs in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. However, now you can create your own … in Lego form.

The Vincent van Gogh — The Starry Night set was designed for ages 18 and up. It includes 2,316 pieces, as well as one minifigure of van Gogh painting the creation. The set has a 3D concept, so you’ll notice that the painting isn’t just flat. The final blue-and-yellow framed art will stand at 12 inches tall, 15 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.

The Starry Night is one of his most iconic works,” Truman Cheng said in Lego materials. “I’d wanted to make a LEGO creation based on the artwork for a long time, but never thought of a good execution style for it.”

Cheng submitted The Starry Night idea to Lego and won after receiving over 10,000 votes from the Lego Ideas community. Now it’s a real-life set. The model is based on the original painting with Cheng’s own imagination added in for the 3D concept.

“One day, I was just playing with LEGO parts, and I realized that stacking LEGO plates together at random intervals looks a lot like van Gogh’s iconic brush strokes. I couldn’t help but wonder what the full painting would look like with this build style.”

Beginning on June 1, 2022, the Lego Vincent van Gogh — The Starry Night set will be available on Lego.com for $169.99. Those with VIP Early Access will be able to purchase the building block set on May 25. Get ready to bring the famous work to life!
