Legendary Surf Photog Shares Update on Surfer Wife's Stage 4 Cancer Battle

A member of the surf community could use some help right now.

As we previously reported, Lane Davey—long-time Pipe surfer, former pro, current professor, and wife of surf photographer Sean Davey—is fighting stage 4 colon-ovarian cancer. So far, they've raised nearly half of their $90,000 goal.

Sean just shared the update below.

Davey posted the update above, writing:

"I just want to share with all of our friends here a bunch of pictures of Lane and I from some of our earlier days. Really going back here like 25 or more years on some of these pictures.

"We’ve been in each other’s lives now for a very long time. I watched Lane going about her life lately around these gnarly chemo drip sessions, which make her sick for days afterwards. She is so strong to be doing this thing called chemo.

"It’s no cake-walk. I sure hope we can get a lot more years in yet, when all is said and done. It’s scary to ponder losing one’s mate to something like this. This thing called cancer just randomly decided to park itself in our lives, just like that and life will probably never be the same again.

"Right now though, we are doing what we can to stabilize Lane's condition and then work on getting her the help that she needs to remove the cancer/s, then work on repairing the damage and hopefully being able to manage it indefinitely. It’s a bit of a question, looking forward right now, but we are up for the challenge.

"Already we have raised more than a 3rd of our initial target for funds to manage Lane’s care. Still though, we don’t know how much more will be needed, so we must continue the GoFundMe.

"Soon also I will be offering some of my most iconic best-selling prints for sale to help with the fund drive. More about that soon. If you’d like to help save Laneski, just hit GoFundMe link in my Instagram bio. Mahalo to all our friends and family for your love and support."

Donate here if you can.
