School is back in session for another year at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. Hope, Landon, Alaric and the rest of our favorite vampires, witches, and werewolves will be returning for another season, and fans are already wondering what it'll be about.

Here's everything you need to know about season 2 of Legacies...

Is there a season two trailer?

The season two trailer for Legacies just dropped and it looks like things will be totally different when everyone comes back for the school year. Based on the trailer, it looks like Landon will be all alone at the school while he waits for everyone to come back, but he knows that there's a piece of him that's missing. Check out the trailer below:

Will there be any cameos from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals?

Fans are hungry for more familiar faces after seeing Jo, Matt, Jeremy and more return for the new series and it looks like another fan favorite will also be returning to Mystic Falls.

Riley Voelkel, who plays Freya Mikaelson, will be making a big return as a guest star in episode 6, TV Guide has reported. While there's no word on why Freya will be coming back, it'll be interesting to see if Freya will reunite with Hope as she tries to find her way out of Malivore.

Even with Freya's big return, series creator Julie Plec is holding out hope for some more actors to return as their beloved characters, especially those from The Originals.

"I think there's going to be an opportunity this year to see some of the Originals," Julie told TV Guide. "I don't know who and I don't know when, but the way that Hope's storyline is shaping up, there's definitely a link to the family that got left behind ... that we will have to address at a certain point. And it would be nice to see a familiar face."

This isn't the first time that Julie has hinted at seeing some more cameos. She already shared her wishlist of characters she would love to see come back and there are so many fan favorites on there.

"Aside from me totally Secret-ing into existence Kai Parker's appearance on this show, there's plenty of people I'd love to see," she told TV Guide. "I'd love to see Bonnie (Katerina Graham). I'd love to see Caroline obviously. I'd love to see Freya (Riley Voelkel) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) and Auntie Rebekah (Claire Holt). ... The door is always open, and it's just really a matter of being able to match up interest from these actors and story opportunity at the right time."

Are there any new actors joining the cast?

Bianca Santos, who played Lexi in The Fosters, is officially joining as Maya, "a sharp-tongued and flirtatious new student at Mystic Falls High, the sister of Ethan and the daughter of Sheriff Mac," according to Deadline.

TVLine also reports that Maya and her brother Ethan will both have a crush on Hope and that it will certainly shake things up between Mystic Falls and the Salvatore School.

"We’re writing new brother and sister characters who are both locals at Mystic Falls High School, and they both have a crush on Hope," series creator Julie Plec revealed during TVLine.

"Everybody in Mystic Falls loves Hope for some reason," Danielle Rose Russell said.

Also, get ready Descendants fans, because a fan favorite is joining the cast! Thomas Doherty, who plays Harry Hook in the hit Disney film series, will be coming in as a much older vampire who won't fit in easily at the Salvatore School. According to TV Line, he'll also be a new romantic interest to Lizzie.

There's a good chance he'll be the Damon Salvatore-like new vampire that's coming to Mystic Falls and Thomas is absolutely perfect for the role. While they haven't revealed how often he'll appear in season 2, we sure hope we'll see plenty of him when the show returns in October.

What did the cast reveal at San Diego Comic-Con?

The kids of the Salvatore School got to take a field trip to San Diego Comic-Con where the cast and crew got the chance to sit down and talk about the upcoming season. While they haven't officially started filming, they still had a lot to share about what will happen next and some surprises that might happen.

Hope will be stuck in Malivore.

When the show comes back, Hope will still be stuck in Malivore, trying to find her way out. This also means that everyone still does not remember her, which can cause some problems for some characters, especially Landon, since he feels like he's lost a piece of himself. Alaric will also notice that someone is missing, causing him to go on a search to find them.

"There is evidence left from the season finale that suggests that there is one more person missing," Matt Davis said. "He’s scratching his [head], trying to figure out who it is."

A new character will feel familiar.

New students will be joining the ranks at the Salvatore School once classes are back in session and there's a new vampire in town that will feel very familiar for fans of The Vampire Diaries.

"Sebastian seems like incredibly Damon Salvatore-ey for lack of a better description. Smokey eyes, seductive ways, sultry language, which in our world, especially with characters like MG is not gonna fly because as we know, the gothic vampire tale is a lot of robbing women of their agency amongst other things," series creator Julie Plec said. "So MG is going to keep this vampire honest and it's not necessarily going to be all for good friendship between the two of them."

Love is in the air.

High school would be boring without the typical love triangles and relationship drama. Fans should expect much more of that when the show comes back, with Julie Plec warning everyone that not every couple is safe.

"There is a lot of stuff that happens. Somebody trying to get a person that they love and realizing that they were not meant to be theirs. Somebody losing somebody that they love in life and have had to let them go. We are having a lot of drama this season, "

There might be some fun holiday episodes.

With the show's fun monster of the week format, there's a good chance that they'll get even more into the spirit of several holidays, including Christmas and Valentine's Day. Executive producer Brett Matthews hinted at a possible Krampus episode or evil Cupid that would wreck havoc on the students and their lives.

How is Legacies season two going to be like The Vampire Diaries?

Fans of The Vampire Diaries are still fans of Damon and Bonnie's relationship after they were stuck together in the Prison World. Now it looks like they have a new friendship to look forward to that will be just like it in Legacies.

"One of our favorite stories from Vampire Diaries was when Damon and Bonnie got stuck in the prison world together," series creator Julie Plec told TV Guide. "We love sticking people together who do not want to be together, and in this case Hope and Clarke are with each other and none too happy about it. ... I think when you're stuck with someone — we call it the 'trapped in the elevator' pitch — the end result of that is always going to either be you have a new and very important understanding of who that person is and maybe have been able to find your way to common ground and to bond, or you just really hate them even more than you hated them to begin with. So you'll have to tune in to find out what their future is."

When will Legacies air?

Legacies can officially keep themselves booked on Thursday nights at 9/8c in the fall. The show will be returning to its original time slot when it officially returns for season 2 on Thursday, October 10, meaning there's no need to make any big changes to your DVR.

Will there be any new characters joining the cast?

New school year means new students, so it's not too surprising to hear that there will be a new vampire coming to join the Salvatore School when Legacies comes back for season 2.

"We're really excited about a new character that we're introducing. We really want to bring in an old, old, old-world vampire," series creator Juli Plec told TV Guide. "We made the rule for our school that the vampires who go to our school actually need to be teenagers... not hundreds of years [old] because then you get into some creepy math. But we want to introduce a vampire who kind of got desiccated when he was 17 in maybe the 15th century and now wakes up in the 21st century and realizes that all the rules of being a vampire have changed and that he does not fit in into this very modern world."

It's clear that this person won't have the easiest time fitting in with the other kids at school. Will he be joining the group now that Hope is gone? Or is he hiding something from everyone else that might end up causing some chaos at the Salvatore school? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

How will Hope's death affect the rest of the characters in season 2?

The end of season 1 ended with Hope jumping into Malivore, erasing her existence and causing everyone to forget about her. With her gone, things will certainly be different for the staff and students at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

"I think that Season 2 will definitely explore Hope's absence in this world and the impact that she does have," Danielle Rose Russell told TV Guide. "I'd really love to explore her darker side a bit after jumping into Malivore. I'm sure it's taken some sort of effect on her mental psyche."

As Hope tries to find her way back home, she will certainly be facing some of her worst fears in Malivore.

"I'd really like to see how Hope handles situations, traumatic situations, more on-screen," she said. "Because after the death of her parents, we kind of did a time jump, and we didn't really see that process, and I'd love to see that process explored a little bit more. And I'd also love to see the impact that it has on Hope and Landon because she did it for them, so it's kind of a beautiful and tragic dynamic that I'm really excited to see more of next year."

Has Legacies been renewed for a second season?

Good news, Legacies fans. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off has officially been renewed for a second season, according to Variety. While the number of episodes haven't been revealed yet, it's a good bet that they'll stick with 16 episodes.

When is it coming out?

Since season 1 just finished airing, it'll be a little while until the show comes back from hiatus for season 2. It's a pretty safe bet to say that the show will be coming back in October, just like last season.

What will it be about?

Fans of Legacies might still be freaking out over the ending of the Malivore storyline, there's a good chance we'll still be seeing our favorite supernatural teenagers going to classes, learning how to control their powers, and figuring out where they belong in their crazy, magical world.

"This is a show that, for us, if Vampire Diaries was about love and The Originals is about family, for us, this is a show about friendship. About growing up and those friendships and how they shift and change and at the core of the kids, the question of, 'Can I be my best self?' or 'Am I doomed to be the villain of someone else’s story?' These kids all have a curse, a plague, something that’s afflicting them, that’s making them others," Julie Plec told Seventeen during a set visit. "And yet, they all want to be the heroes of the story. In addition to the twists and the turns and we’ve got the relationships that we always love playing in. The friendships and then the added twist to this particular series is that we’ve got monsters. We’ve got creatures that fall outside the traditional Vampire Dairies universe of vampires, witches, and werewolves."

Who will be in it?

As with everything in The Vampire Diaries and Legacies universe, no one is safe in this world. However, it's a safe bet that we'll be seeing most, if not all, of the major characters back for another year at the Salvatore School and even some new ones along the way.
