The LeBron James billboard craze has gone international
The quest to land LeBron James in free agency has gone abroad.
Over the last month, billboards have popped up across the country with fans from Philadelphia to Los Angeles and others urging the Cleveland Cavaliers star to choose their team once he hits free agency.
But why should James stay stateside? Folks in the Philippines are hoping he’ll consider professional ball in Manila:
Haha! Yup, why not #ManiLaBron? @KingJames pic.twitter.com/1rOYrwenQa

And if James decides Southeast Asia is not for him, how about sunny New Zealand?
Keen for a change of scenery @KingJames?
Pls don't #ComeToPhilly#ManiLaBron doesn't need you
And you've been to #LAbron soooo many times.Come to #LeBroNZ and we'll get the @RealStevenAdams to show you round pic.twitter.com/k9r8N9ZFvf

Above is a billboard from the New Zealand Breakers, the only team from New Zealand to compete in the eight-team National Basketball League in Australia. A tour of New Zealand from Oklahoma City Thunder big man (and New Zealand native) Steven Adams does sound enticing, but the Breakers are going to need more work on their hashtag game (#LeBroNZ is the best you could do?) to lure James across the world.
The NBL is hoping to position itself as a viable option for potential one-and-done NBA prospects who would rather play a year of professional ball than go to college. That sounds like a more realistic route to more relevancy in America, doesn’t it?
