LeBron James’s Style Is Playoffs-Ready

The NBA playoffs kick off this weekend, and LeBron James is ready. Not only did James help the Cleveland Cavaliers earn home-court advantage (and yet another Central Division crown) with a win over the Knicks on Monday, but the man also debuted two epic fits before the game even started. The first, which he wore to visit 2 Chainz in the studio, as one does, consisted of a Tom Ford pinstripe suit worn with a striped Amiri T-shirt and a pair of Atmos x Nike Air Max sneakers. The second, which is what he rolled into Madison Square Garden wearing later in the day, mixed classic tailoring (an Hermès overcoat) and athletic pieces (Nike Air Force 1 sneakers) in a slightly lower-key but equally cool way. This is exactly how you'd expect a king to dress in 2018.

James has spent the majority of this season in head-down mode, style-wise, wearing head-to-toe black and an array of standard-issue hoodies before and after his games. Yes, he wore a circular butt bag that one time, but for the most part, he's been keeping a stylishly low profile. These fits, however? This is what giving it your all looks like. You don't roll out of bed and put on a Prince of Wales check overcoat or a pinstripe suit any more than you roll onto a basketball court for 15 straight seasons and continually crush it. This is LeBron James in F-you mode and look-at-me mode, and it is a most excellent combination.
