Leaked Video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Shows Her to Be . . . an Extremely Cute Dancer

The Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smear attempts have taken on a desperate tone. The latest in a string of accusations (including that she once lived in a house, has worn fancy clothes for magazine shoots, owns a coat, and used to go by “Sandy”) is a video of the brand-new congressional representative dancing (very adorably) with some of her Boston University classmates, sent to Phoenix’s “Lisztomania.” The horror!

A Twitter account called AnonymousQ1776 shared the footage, calling Ocasio-Cortez a “commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is.” Rather than humiliate her, though, The Breakfast Club–inspired dance montage served only to remind people exactly how exciting and refreshing it is to have a relatable, young person in elected office—one who, like nearly all of us, participated in slightly corny college musical endeavors. (My a cappella days are fully YouTube-searchable, FYI.) Even conservative site Red State called the anonymous troll’s tactic “self-defeating”; it turns out that showing how a remarkable speaker and public figure was just a few years ago geeking out on a rooftop to a very earworm-y pop song actually makes her even more endearing.

Even though the video claimed to be “leaked” on Twitter, it is readily available on YouTube, which makes you think that Ocasio-Cortez might even know that this incredibly damning sequence in which she has a lot of fun in a university-produced dance video exists in the world. AOC didn’t immediately comment on the shocking development, given that she, again, just got sworn in as the youngest person in Congress (maybe Brett Kavanaugh will come to her defense, seeing as he feels so strongly about digging up our embarrassing young selves?), but on Friday morning Ocasio-Cortez released another cute dancing video, this time in Congress:
