A League of Their Own has been cancelled by Prime Video after initially being promised a four-episode season two to wrap up the character arcs.

The show starred Abbi Jacobson, Chanté Adams, D'Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Colindrez, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephraim, Melanie Field and Kate Berlant and was a take on the 1992 film of the same title.

In an Instagram post, the show's co-creator and star Abbi Jacobson said, "What luck I have had to get to tell these stories and play this character I love so much. What a rare thing in life. And so I am sad today."

Jacobson went on to say that declarations that the show's cancellation is due to the strikes are "cowardly".

"This post here is about the special show I was lucky to make with so many incredibly talented artists and actors and writers and crew," Jacobson said, ending the post with "Thank you for watching".
