  • Lea Michele and her husband, Zandy Reich, have welcomed their first child together.

  • Lea’s baby news comes amid accusations against her from her former Glee costars.

Remember when news dropped months ago that Lea Michele and her super-rich business-owner husband, Zandy Reich, were expecting their first child together? It feels like an entire lifetime (aka four months) ago, but we finally have an update: Lea and Zandy have welcomed their child, a beautiful and healthy boy named Ever Leo.

According to People, Lea had Ever Leo on August 20. “Everyone’s happy and healthy, and they’re extremely grateful,” the source said. “He’s been an easy baby so far.” When the news of their pregnancy first made headlines, a separate People source said Lea and Zandy were beyond excited for their new adventure. “They’ve always wanted to be parents.”

As great as it is that Lea just welcomed her baby, the news comes at a pretty awkward time. This year, Lea has faced multiple accusations of acting racist and generally unpleasant to work with while filming Glee. Samantha Ware said Lea threatened to have her fired from the show and tweeted that Lea said she would sh*t in her wig when given the chance. Heather Morris wrote a statement about the drama and said, “Was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so.”

Following massive backlash, Lea issued an “apology,” in which she said she conveniently doesn’t remember making hateful remarks toward Samantha but the experience taught her a lesson in listening to others.

“What matters is that I clearly acted in ways which hurt other people,” she wrote. “One of the most important lessons of the last few weeks is that we need to take the time to listen and learn about other people’s perspectives and any role we have played or anything we can do to help address the injustices that they face.”

It’s an awk time for happy baby news amid all this, but hopefully Lea’s working to treat others around her with more respect.
