Lay’s Reveals 4 New Flavor Hopefuls in New ‘Flavor Swap’ Contest

On the heels of its successful “Do Us a Flavor” contest, Lay’s is once again asking fans to weigh in on its flavor roster. This time, though, Lay’s will pit four of its classic flavors against new, revamped versions in what it’s calling a “Flavor Swap.”

Here’s how it works: Beginning Feb. 8 and through March 21, potato chip aficionados can vote for their favorite flavor in four “swap” categories — heat, cheese, barbecue, and spice — which each features a classic flavor and a brand new one. All flavors will be in stores nationwide by the promotion’s start.

There’s a lot on the line: a $1,000 daily giveaway prize and $250,000 for one especially lucky fan. All you have to do is cast your vote on a soon-to-be-announced website.

We got a sneak peek at flavor hopefuls earlier this month, and can attest that the new flavors don’t suck. We’re especially fans of one new entry, Korean Barbecue.

The chip tastes “straight off the grill,” as one editor put it, having the surprisingly spot-on flavor of a flame-grilled hamburger or steak. One editor said this “tastes like summer,” while, ironically, our vegetarian editor asked for seconds and thirds, exclaiming, “This is delicious!” A smoky, meaty taste you can get in chip form? We’re sold.

Here are the suggested swaps, according to a press release:
