Lay’s Turns Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup Into Chips

Lay’s is no stranger to unorthodox and unexpected potato chip flavors. Look no further than their Lobster Roll or Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle chips for just a small smattering of examples. While those are all well and good if you’re looking to get real weird with it, their latest flavor launch seems much closer to comfort food.

Just in time for cooler fall and winter weather, Lay’s is introducing a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup-flavored chip. Offering what should be a deliciously simple (and simply delicious) flavor pairing the buttery cheesiness of grilled cheese alongside a creamy, zesty, and sweet tomato soup, it’s essentially everything you’d want for lunch on a cold, rainy or snowy day.

While most chips are just chips, the fact that these evoke a meal so strongly associated with comfort already earns them a special place in the potato chip pantheon. One wonders if the act of simply munching on these can transport you back to childhood memories of a snow day.

Even wilder, what would happen if you put a grilled-flavored chip inside a grilled cheese? Or a tomato soup flavored-chip inside tomato soup? It’s not often we have the chance to experiment with this kind of chipception, so take advantage of it while you can.

Fittingly, these chips will be available nationwide on October 21st, right when the temperatures usually (hopefully?) start to dip. Much like a squirrel hoarding nuts, you’ll want to get your hands on as many bags of these as you can given that they’re a limited time offering. Hopefully you can find enough to last you through the winter.
